Description
The Plaster and I is a book that describes the writer’s experience as a young student in Leeds University. For nearly 3 years from 1949-1952, the writer, as a T.B spine patient, was forced to lie down flat confined in a plaster bed in hospital in Leeds. Immobilised in this position, the writer went through many forms of painful and sometimes joyous experiences. Despite all the limitations, the writer remained optimistic and continued to pursue her university course by taking examinations. At the end of her stay, she conquered her illness and completed half of her university course.
