Ivy Yong

Ivy is a Singapore citizen who grew up in the 1970s and 1980s, a time of rapid modernisation in the country. She retains scant but vivid memories of the last vestiges of “kampong life” during early childhood visits to her grandparents’ home in the Woodlands area. Ivy is a graduate of National University of Singapore Faculty of Law and has worked as a corporate lawyer in an international bank for the past 18 years. She and her husband Yiow enjoy visual art of all genres, and love to spend time visiting art galleries during the weekends in Singapore or when travelling abroad. In the past 10 years, they have developed an interest to learn more about the local art scene, both in relation to its history and current developments. They also have a growing conviction to support local artists. Ivy enjoys painting as a hobbyist when she finds the time. Ivy is particularly fascinated with watercolours, a medium that she finds beautifully ephemeral and impossible to control. She is related to artist Lim Hwee Tiong through marriage and addresses him a er jiu (Second Uncle).
